Rachel


Prior to her pregnancy Rachel had hoped to pursue a career as a teacher, but when she got pregnant and was forced to leave school, she was unsure of how she would achieve her dream. A neighbor who worked at TEKUA told Rachel about the Girls’ Empowerment program, and Rachel was accepted to the program. After she completed her national exams, Rachel was accepted into teachers’ college. Once Rachel completed her teaching certification, she applied to, and was accepted for, a position at TEKUA teaching English. With her own perseverance, and the assistance of the Girls Empowerment program, Rachel has achieved her dreams of being a teacher. She hopes her example will empower her own daughter never to give up on her aspirations. Her daughter hopes to become a doctor when she grows up.
